Invested in Creattura Co., Ltd. which has strength in the development of natural carbon credits.
TOKYU CONSTRUCTION CO.,LTD. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Mitsuhiro Terada; hereafter, the "Company") is investing in a variety of start-ups through the TOKYU-CNST GB Innovation Fund L. P. (operated by Global Brain Co., Ltd.) with the mission of transforming the construction business and creating new businesses.
This time the Company have invested in Creattura Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Noriyasu Hattori), which is engaged in the development of carbon credits that will lead to the reduction of CO2 emissions and increase of CO2 absorption, as well as the development of trading and information technologies.
[Background of the investment and future development]
As a response to climate change, emissions trading, in which companies buy and sell carbon dioxide emission reductions, is being introduced mainly in Europe.
The emissions trading system is being tested in the Japanese market. Full-scale operation of the system started in fiscal 2026. The stipulation is being studied with a view to making it mandatory for large companies to participate in the system and establishing a certification system for emission reduction targets. Demand for carbon credits is expected to grow significantly in the future as a shortage of available credits is expected as emissions trading becomes more active.
The Company will collaborate with Creattura Co., Ltd. which has strengths in credit creation from natural projects and GHG reduction through renewable energy sources, as well as information technologies.
We will further promote decarbonization efforts such as ZEB* and renewable energy projects. In addition to these initiatives, we aim to create new added value and business opportunities to address social issues such as climate change and SDGs.
* ZEB: Abbreviation for Net Zero Energy Building. A building that aims to achieve a comfortable indoor environment while achieving zero annual primary energy balance.
