There is about 180, 000 m³ of surplus soil from the new construction of commercial facilities in the central district. In order to facilitate such large-scale construction work, the 130,000-m² site, which consists of 16 buildings, was divided into three blocks. Construction works were promoted daily under the leadership of construction chiefs and supervisors assigned to the respective blocks.

MINAMIMACHIDA GRANDBERRY PARK Station, a convenient and attractive gateway to a new town

Minamimachida Station was renovated to consolidate the station functions, which used to be on the first floor, on the second floor in line with the installation of the north-south corridor. A new station office, passengers' restrooms, escalators and more were installed. As the station was in service as normal while renovation works were conducted, steel framing and some other works were conducted between 1:40 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. The renovation works were conducted within a limited amount of time every day based on meticulous planning so as not to disturb train operations.

The railway civil engineering works had many restrictions as the railway is just above the station. The corridor crossing over the railway track to connect the north and south of the station, the artificial ground for the ticket gate area, which is a new gateway to Minamimachida Station and the platform screen doors were installed.

In Minamimachida Project, an expansion work for the retention basin was conducted for inland flood control for the nearby Sakai River, in addition to the construction of new commercial facilities and the renovation of the station. The work was conducted while using the existing retention basin and completed by overcoming various challenges such as large rainwater and mud pools that formed on site after rain.
A multi-purpose space was developed above the underground retention basin, where many people coming to the town gather and enjoy sport.
